Chance to Make a Difference.
For all of our projects, Medforce’s overarching aim is to support local communities with our work, and offer you the chance to make a difference. You might assist doctors or nurses in South Africa in their daily work and thereby relieve some of their workload, which allows them to focus on treating their patients more effectively. Or you might work with the Red Cross in their effort to raise the standard of health care in Ecuador. Perhaps you will provide basic medical aid to rural villages in Cambodia, where people have no access to medical facilities. Either way, you will make a positive impact as a Medforce volunteer.
Variety
We offer a large variety of projects in a wide range of countries. As a volunteer, you can work in Africa, South America, Central America, Asia, or the South Pacific. You can choose to work in a hospital or a clinic, raise awareness on health issues at schools, or provide medical support in remote communities. In addition, we offer you the opportunity to work in specialized medical areas, such as dentistry, physiotherapy, and neurosurgery. Whether you are an elective nursing student, medical student, qualified doctor or simply interested in the medical field, Medforce offers you some of the most rewarding and exciting projects worldwide.
Safety
Medforce places the highest emphasis on safety. We carry out thorough risk assessments in each country in which we consider all the potential dangers and hazards that we may encounter in our remote environments. We also abide by the governing guidelines of the Year Out Group (YOG) and the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) and use BSi8848 to ensure preventative measures in the field. Furthermore, our staff members are required to have Satellite Phones so that, in case of a serious incident, there will be an immediate evacuation. The evacuation plans are carefully thought through and we utilise our relationships in country with local military and medical assistance teams.
All-in prices
Our prices cover everything during your stay; accommodation, meals, airport pick up, daily transport to your projects, an orientation programme on arrival, and 24/7 support by our co-ordinators. In addition, we offer you a free Briefing Day before departure, so that you set off well-prepared.
Flexibility
Most of our programmes run year round and have flexible start dates and durations. As many of our volunteers are students or qualified medical practitioners, we are aware that there are often time constraints. Moreover, we are happy to tailor-make programmes for you that suit your specific requirements and needs. For instance, we are able to provide specialised placements in such areas as:
