The first and third Monday of each month.
Join us in India’s buzzing capital for a medical placement. With its exotic splendour, its noisy chaos, and its fascinating range of temples and museums, Delhi will offer you an exciting experience of India with all its contrasts. In this amazing setting, we offer you the chance to gain valuable medical experience by working in local hospitals.
This programme is suitable for:
| Category 1: Volunteer with little or no experience | |
| Category 2: Medical students on electives |
Delhi, India’s multidimensional capital, is a beautiful blend of a rich history and a vibrant present. While the old city consists of ancient forts, majestic temples, and narrow winding alleys, the new city offers skyscrapers and well-planned tree-lined avenues. There is an endless amount of exploring you can do in Delhi. In addition, you are ideally located to visit the Taj Mahal and the city of Jaipur during a tour of the ‘golden triangle.’
As a volunteer, you will be working in hospitals in the southern part of Delhi. You will be assisting local doctors in their daily work, and you will have a chance to work in range of medical fields. You may be involved in the following departments:
• General Medicine
• Traumatology
• Surgery
• Emergency Room
• Laboratory
• Pharmacy
• Administration
A Typical Day
You will generally work between 9 am and 3 pm, with an hour lunch break. Please note, however, that your schedule may vary slightly from day to day, depending on which village you are visiting.
Accommodation
You will stay in a hostel or with a local family in the southern part of Delhi. You will be placed in accommodation close to the hospital you work in, so that it is easy to get to work. All accommodation is close to amenities, such as shops, restaurants, and internet cafes.

Meals
All your meals are provided for you during your stay. If you live close enough to work, you might come home to eat lunch, and you will otherwise get a packed lunch.
Getting There and Start Dates
You will fly into Delhi International Airport, where you will be picked up by our volunteer co-ordinator, and taken to your accommodation.
Should you want to participate in the week-long orientation programme upon arrival, you will have to arrive on the first or third Monday of the month. Should you choose not to participate in the orientation programme, your arrival date is flexible.
Support
Throughout your stay, you will be assisted by our volunteer co-ordinator. On the projects, you will also be assisted by qualified doctors and nurses.
